Holistic Massage

Holistic massage is the nurturing process of touch and response.

The holistic approach to massage therapy can touch an individual’s whole being – physical, mental and emotional.

Each massage treatment is adapted to the client’s individual unique needs, physical characteristics and personality and the whole process is guided by principles of sensitivity, intuition, awareness, knowledge and professionalism.

Holistic massage can lead to a variety of outcomes; depending on the needs of the individual client, which can include:

  • Physical Improvements – relaxing tight muscles, improving circulation, nervous function and joint mobility. This can ease many short and long term ailments such as back pain, arthritis and insomnia.
  • Stress Reduction - As one of the main causes of disease in Western society, holistic massage can facilitate the switch between sympathetic (fight or flight) and autonomic nervous systems, allowing both body and mind valuable recuperation time.
  • Emotionally – holistic massage can provide the caring non-intrusive touch clients have often longed for; this can soothe the busy mind, reduce stress and enhance self esteem.

At a deeper level still, holistic massage can release the personal history stored in body tissues; this can lead to powerful changes in our energy and provide a vital and chemical ingredient in each persons process of growth.

Remedial Massage

Remedial massage is an outcome-focused, therapeutic treatment designed to relieve muscle tension, reduce pain, and support recovery from injury or ongoing discomfort. It works by addressing the underlying causes of pain, such as poor posture, muscle imbalances, reduced mobility, or overuse.

Treatments focus primarily on muscles, tendons, and ligaments, and may include assessment, targeted hands-on techniques, and gentle rehabilitation work where appropriate. While the approach is clinical and purposeful, sessions are always delivered in a calm, supportive environment, allowing space for both physical relief and mental relaxation.

Remedial massage can help with:

  • Muscular aches and pains
  • Back, neck, and shoulder pain
  • Whiplash
  • Repetitive strain injuries (RSI)
  • Tennis elbow and golfer’s elbow
  • Carpal tunnel syndrome
  • Joint stiffness and discomfort
  • Frozen shoulder
  • Muscle strains
Sports Massage

Sports massage is a targeted treatment that supports the body through physical activity, training, and recovery — whether you’re an athlete, a regular exerciser, or simply using your body a lot day to day. It can be used both pre- and post-exercise to help improve performance, reduce muscle tightness, and lower the risk of injury.

This treatment focuses on specific muscle groups that are under strain and may combine deep tissue techniques, stretching, and mobility work to improve function and speed up recovery. Sessions are tailored to your activity level, goals, and current physical needs, while still maintaining a restorative and grounded experience.

Sports massage can help with:

  • Muscle tightness and fatigue
  • Running-related issues (runner’s knee, IT band tension, shin splints)
  • Ankle sprains
  • Plantar fasciitis
  • Overuse injuries
  • Reduced flexibility or range of motion
  • Post-exercise recovery and injury prevention

Massage therapy can increase the release of endorphins - natural pain-relievers made by the body. A wealth of research shows that positive, consensual touch can increase mental wellbeing and reduce anxiety and depression.

Massage therapy activates the parasympathetic nervous system by stimulating skin receptors and the vagus nerve, shifting the body from 'fight or flight' to 'rest and digest', lowering cortisol, increasing serotonin and dopamine, slowing the heart rate and reducing muscle tension, leading to deep relaxation, better sleep and improved mood.
